Exchange
Dancing on the Edge believes in the value of cultural exchange and has developed a number of programs in different areas:
Artists in Residence
Dancing on the Edge has set up a program of artistic residencies in the Netherlands for artists from the Middle East and North Africa. These are organized in collaboration with Dutch production houses or professional companies. Partners include Dansmakers Amsterdam, Korzo, ICKamsterdam, and the Henny Jurriëns Foundation. Artists are chosen through open calls from which a selection is made, and occasionally on the request of an artist or organization.Choreographers and theater makers greatly benefit by a period of residence away from their normal surroundings, and in a place where good facilities, new input and experienced feedback are available.
For information about coming calls, please contact us.

Training
Dancing on the Edge regularly organizes dance training in the Middle East and North Africa. These are usually done at the request of groups or institutions in the region, who also provide the information about what kind of training or workshops are needed. Dancing on the Edge also has the long-term aspiration of contributing to the setting up of structural training centers and institutions. As the second of these is a complicated enterprise which requires strong local institutional support, until now Dancing on the Edge has concentrated on sending trainers to different countries to give technique classes and/or workshops about specific techniques or subjects.

Co-productions
Dancing on the Edge has coproduced a number of successful pieces in the last years which have gone on to tour in Europe, the MENA region, and the wider world. Dancing on the Edge encourages collaborations between choreographers and theater makers from the MENA region and Dutch/European-based ones. Artistic affinity with each other’s work and a wish to develop new pieces together are the basic requirements for a co-production.
Although the organization has limited resources and only project-based funding, Dancing on the Edge can help finance, or can help find financing or collaborative production partners for new pieces, as well as presenting them in festivals or theatres.
