In 2007 Feri de Geus and Noortje Bijvoets of Le Grand Cru (www.legrandcru-dance.nl)
travelled to Syria and worked with Ramad Dance company, based in Damascus (Syria). The piece was commissioned by Dancing on the Edge and the production coincided with the celebration of 400 years consular relations between the Netherlands and the Syrian city of Aleppo. The premiere was held there after which the production played in Damascus and then in 3 Dutch cities. Risaleh consists of two parts: Who opens the door by the choreographer Lawand Hajo and Sounds of Water and More of Le Grand Cru. In both pieces choreographic metaphors were used to show experiences in the lives of the dancers and the complexity of modern Arab life.
