Arkadi Zaides



   

Arkadi Zaides was born in the Soviet Union and immigrated to Israel in 1990 at the age of 11. He danced with the Batsheva Dance Company and Yasmeen Godder group among others . Since 2004 he has been choreographing independently. While his works have been performed all over the world and have had excellent reviews.

He has received numerous grants and prizes in Israel and abroad. In 2006 has been selected as one of three finalists in dance for the third cycle (2006-2007) of the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative. In both 2008 and 2009, received the honorable prizes from the Israeli Ministry of Education Culture and Sport for young up and coming choreographer of the
year. Received Kurt Joosse Award in Germany and The Rozenblum award from the city of Tel Aviv in 2010.


Embedded in Arkadi’s work is a belief that the role of art is to challenge and inspire viewers, while simultaneously it has a larger universal role to reach out and bring together different communities and different sectors of society. Arkadi is increasingly working in diverse communities, focusing primarily on the Arab sector in Israel.
