Film Program/Cinedans
The film program will be shown in the cinemas Rialto (Amsterdam) and ’t Hoogt (Utrecht), as well as in Korzo5HOOG (The Hague), Grand Theatre (Groningen) and De Unie (Rotterdam). There is also a continuous program of films (the shorts from program 3) and installations (by Neil van der Linden and Ahmed El Gendy among others) at various locations. This program has been created in collaboration with Cinedans.
Program 1: Music Beyond Borders
Can music be an instrument in transcending religious and political conflicts? Knowledge is the Beginning by Paul Smaczny and Carried by the Wind by Adam Sebires show how music can play the role of mediator in the Middle East. At the screening on Sunday the 29th of November in Rialto, Merlijn Twaalfhoven and Mariam Said, widow of the great Palestinian scholar Edward Said, will be present as guest speakers.
