Sounds from Here

Dorit Weintal / Rasha Jahshan
Dorit Weintal

Sounds from Here is a dance-theatre piece that portrays a woman’s subconscious psychology and her conflicts and difficulties in a world dominated by men and their values. It is personified by a Palestinian woman living in Nazareth, but could be a woman living anywhere in a similar situation. The solo explores the constant re-evaluation necessary for survival, and the realisation that a truly personal experience can never be shared completely. With expressive dance, a multi-layered soundscape and video footage, the piece represents a metaphor for life’s struggles and the essence of womanhood. The spoken text is in English and Arabic.
