Since the successful festival in December 2009 where we presented 60 performances in 5 Dutch cities, the Dancing on the Edge organization has been busy with a number of projects. These include training, symposiums, research and artistic residencies partly funded by both the European Commission and the Anna Lindh Foundation.

The next festival is planned for December 2011. A call for entries will be publicized in the fall, but interested artists can contact us about their pieces.

Yaser Khaseb (Iran) / Duda Paiva (The Netherlands)

One day a rebellious piece of cloud detached itself from the comfort of blues skies to embark on an earthly adventure where it meets two people – the well known dance/puppetry artist from the Netherlands, Duda Paiva, and the Iranian Yaser Khaseb, two men of totally different cultural backgrounds. They use the amorphous cloud to find their mutual language. During a visit to the Netherlands, Yaser met with the well known dance/puppetry artist from the Netherlands, Duda Paiva. A great synergy was found between the two and Cloud is the result of their artistic collaboration. Cloud is a coproduced by the Dancing on the Edge Festival

Yaser Khaseb
Yaser Khaseb comes from a theatrical family and studied acting and mime at Tonkabon university in Iran. His work incorporates dance, mime, theatre and puppetry. His pieces have won prizes in Boshehr Mime Festival Student International Puppetry Festival and have been performed in the renown Teheran Fadjr Fesival. Since participating in the 2007 Dancing on the Edge Festival he has become an artist in demand, performing in theaters and festivals in various countries, including, Italy, Germany, Poland and the United States.

Duda Paiva
Duda Paiva trained as a dancer and actor in Brazil, India and Japan before arriving in the Netherlands. He has joined dance projects and dance movies from choreographers such as Paul Selwyn Norton, Itzik Galili, Ron Bunzl, Karin Post and the companies Raz and Rogie & Company. In 2000 he was nominated for the Dutch dance prize and since then his performances have toured throughout the world. Paiva has created his own theatre idiom and merges dance and puppetry disciplines with video, objects, and live music. www.dudapaiva.com
